The new-build GWR Saint Class 4-6-0 No. 2999 "Lady of Legend", has remained at the Bluebell Railway over the winter after taking part in their Giants of Steam last year, and this year will be taking part in their Spring Steam Gala from the 20th to 22nd of March 2026.

The new-build London Brighton & South Coast Railway (Marsh Designed) H2 Class Atlantic 4-4-2 No. 32424 "Beachy Head", will be making its first visits away from the Bluebell Railway this year, as the locomotive is visiting Didcot Railway Centre for the very first time for their Heritage in Motion event from the 23rd to 25th of May 2026.

BR Standard 5MT 4-6-0 No. 73156, will be visiting the Mid-Hants Railway (Watercress Line) for the first time for their upcoming Spring Steam Gala from the 24th to 26th of April 2026. The visit of No. 73156 will bring some memories of when sister Mid Hants based BR Standard 5MT 4-6-0 No. 73096 was operational along the line in the 1990s and 2000s.

The ex GWR Castle Class 4-6-0 No. 5029 "Nunney Castle", is one of the star visiting locomotives at the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway for their upcoming Steam Gala from the 19th to 22nd of March 2026. This is not the first time "Nunney Castle" has visiting the railway as she first visitied the line in 1994 for crew training runs prior to a trip over the Settle and Carlisle line then.

The Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum has annouced that former Southern Railway MS Class 2-8-2 No. 4501 the most famous Steam Locomotive in the United States of America, is to be repainted back into the famous iconic Southern Railway green passenger livery to mark 60 years since No. 4501 entered excursion service with TVRM and the Southern Railway Steam Program wearing that unmistakable Southern green that helped define an era of mainline steam’s revival in the eastern states of the USA.

The overhaul on ex War Department, Longmoor Military Railway and National Coal Board, Robert Stephenson & Hawthorns built Austerity 0-6-0ST (WD No. 75189) No. 152 "Rennes", has now been completed and the locomotive is now operational again and is set to visit the Swanage Railway for the first time for their Spring Steam Gala the 27th to 29th of March 2026.

The ex GWR Manor Class 4-6-0 No. No. 7819 "Hinton Manor", is relocating to the Vale of Rheidol Railway at Aberystwyth, Ceredigion in Wales, for a two year loan on display in their museum in the former Great Western Railway locomotive shed at Aberystwyth until the spring of 2028, following a deal with the Severn Valley Railway. For No. 7819 this is a homecoming as the GWR Manor class had worked many of the prestigious Cambrian Coast Express services to and from Aberystwyth during the 1960s, making "Hinton Manor" a regular visitor to Aberystwyth in both Great Western and BR days. The locomotive last visited Aberystwyth on a mainline steam special in 1991, so its return more than three decades later is particularly significant.”

The former Longleat Light Railway, Severn Lamb built 0-6-2T No. 3 "Dougal", has now left the Valley Railway Adventure (Evesham Vale Light Railway) and has relocated to John Fowler Engineering at Bouth in Cumbria, to be overhauled and re-gauged from 15inch gauge to 12inch gauge to run at its new home at the Ruislip Lido Railway.

After being on display for a while in the exhibition shed at Oxenhope, the ex LMS Jinty 3F 0-6-0T No. 47279, has been moved back to Haworth shed on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway to be evaluated for overhaul back to steam again.

The Great Central Railway has put ex LMS Black Five 4-6-0 No. 45491, up for sale to see the locomotive go to a good new home. No. 45491 has been moved to Swithland sidings on the Great Central Railway for storage until it is sold.

The ex GWR Prairie 2-6-2T No. 5538, has been sold by Mike Little to Bill Parker of the Flour Mill Works at Bream, Gloucestershire, who will now complete its restoration from Barry Scrapyard condition which is part way nearly completed.

The former Ministry of Munitions, Bagnall built 0-4-0ST (Works No. 2088) No. 4 "Armistice", has since left the Bredgar & Wormshill Light Railway, having been sold to a new owner and has relocated to its new home at Bressingham Steam Museum in Norfolk, where it is now under overhaul.

KD6 487 the last KD6 (S160) 2-8-0 left in China today is now back operational again as it has been fully overhauled using parts from SY Class steam locomotives and is operating in the steam locomotive festival at Daqing this year on the Tiefa Coal Mine System.

SY Class 2-8-2 SY 1446, which was built at Tangshan in 1986 for the Jixi System for use at the coal mine at Didao, is today preserved and is stored at Hegang Mine at Jiamusia in Neimenggu, China.
