The locomotive is one of sixteen delivered to the Swiss Central Railway (S - C - B) for freight duties, as their No. 196. Upon formation of the SBB it became No. 7696 and worked until 1938 when it was withdrawn, and then stored for preservation. It is still operational and believed to now be based at Balstal, on loan from the NTM.

This is/was a singular superheated tank locomotive built for the extensive gradients of the S - M - B (i.e. the ‘u’ in Munster has no ‘ü’ as in Germany’). The line was electrified in 1932 and the locomotive placed in reserve until 1966 when it was put on display in Oberdorf.

The locomotive is one of four Series E built for the Emmentalbahn Railway (E-B) and this, last one became their No. 8. It effectively became redundant upon electrification of the line in 1932, thereafter working from Huttwill. It is now believed to be stored in Burgdorf.

This locomotive is one of 34 Group 15 locomotives delivered to the SBB. In 1964 it was sold to the Mittle Thurgau Bahn (MThB).

This was the last of a class of nine locomotives delivered to the Bodensee - Toggenburg Railway (B - T) as their No. 9. It later became SBB No. 5889 and was restored for Heritage survival in 1965.

This is one of nine locomotives of this type delivered to the Bodensee-Toggenburg Railway (B-T), of which two have been preserved and this was No. 6. It later became SBB No 5886 and following withdrawal it was first displayed at Degersheim.

This locomotive was delivered to the Solothurn - Munster - Railway (SMB) as their No. 1 and was sold, in 1934, to the Basle building company of Dreispitz, moving on another company, Lonza, of Visp. Whilst rumoured to be preserved in Technorama, this facility is not equipped for locomotives and it is probably elsewhere!

This was one of three identical locomotives built for the Berne Schwarzenburg Bahn (BSB) and which was sold, in 1932, to the Zementfabrik, Wildegg; later to be then preserved by enthusiasts in Berne.

This locomotive was delivered to the Régionale Saignelegier Glovelier Railway (RSG) and became their No. 2. It became No. 2 also with the Régionale Pruntrut Bonfol (RPB) in 1934; withdrawn in 1952 and sold to Sulzer Bros. at Oberwinterthur.

Perhaps this should be described as a 0-6-0WT rather than a Tram like I t’s bodywork. It was delivered to the Huttwil-Wolhausen-Railway (WHB) as their No. 5 and after electrification of that Railway in 1936 it was sold to Sulzer Bros., Winterthur for use in their factory.

This is one of two unique locomotives, the other being No. 8521, which during WW2 because of the Swiss shortage of coal, was fitted with a pantograph above it’s cab to collect electric current for the 7 tonne heating devices fitted in their boilers to make steam; proving extremely costly.

Having a SBB number this locomotive could well have been delivered directly to that company. However in 1963 - 1966 it was in possession of the Mittel-Thurgau-Bahn (MThB) before being sold privately.

This locomotive, as the site suggests, was delivered to the Swiss Central Railway (SCB) as their No. 41 and that, on formation of the SBB in 1902, became their No. 8410. It ‘retired’ in 1941 and then worked for the steel works of W von Moos AG, Emmenbrücke until being preserved.

The history of this locomotive is as Hans Ritz described in 2008, the companies and running numbers of which, may now be incorporated in the titles. The running number at the paper fabric mill, where it spent it’s latter ‘working’ years was No. 26; the most recent status was “operational”.

This is one of four (out of six - quite remarkable) 0-6-0WT locomotives delivered by SLM until 1912, to this railway, that is still extant and still working, albeit summer excursions, on the line to which it was delivered, the Sihltalbahn!

Seetalbahn Railway No 3 ‘BEINWYL’ , in 1912, it was sold to Zement Fabriken, Wildegg to become their No. 1, retiring in 1961 to a playground in the latter district in Aargau Canton.

This locomotive was originally Nordostbahn (NOB) No. 253, subsequently re-numbered 453. When the company, with four others, formed the SBB in 1902 it became their No. 8551, lastly being sold to the private Swiss ship company Reederei AG, of Basel before being withdrawn in 1963 and displayed at a playground at Kleinhhüningen (Basle).

This locomotive was one of four original originally supplied to the Emmentalbahn as No. 3 ‘LANGNAU’ and afterwards it was employed by Von Roll AG, Erlafingen. When retired it went for storage at Vallorbe; the other three supplied have been scrapped.

As currently ‘slightly in-perfectly’ recorded, this locomotive was built for the Südostbahn as their No. 4 ‘SCHWYZ’. It was sold, in 1941, to Chemie Ueticon (now GmbH) and was placed, in 1965, on display at Einsiedeln.

The locomotive was built for the Swiss Central Railway (SCB) as their No 28 ‘GENF’ and has an Engerth system pivoted rear-end. It was withdrawn prior to formation of the SBB.

The locomotive was originally Jura-Simpson-Bahn (Jura, Simpson Railway JSB) No. 35 that became SBB No. 5469 (I.e. NOT JSB)
