Mount Washington Railway Locomotive #6 has not been operational for over 10 years. Until recently, it was stored without its tender outside the old shop building. With the recent construction of a new shop facility, it has now been moved back into the old shop building, but there are no near-term plans for it. Only Locomotives #2 and 9 are maintained in operational condition.

The only cog engine remaining to have been built with a vertical boiler. Original build date was 1874 and rebuild was in 1878.
