The story of these two locomotives is told on the following website, posted by the State of Maine Bureau of Parks and lands. I checked the website today 07/01/08 and it is still current. A couple of photos and the story of the Eagle Lake and West Branch Railroad. http://www.maine.gov/doc/parks/programs/history/allagash/rr.htm

Opps!! Almost forgot.

It was not sold to Ferguson & Allen until late 1927. I have picture of this engine taken in Collinwood Ohio in June of 1927.

Sorry for the multiple postings and confusion

Under Ownership

Edward Acrgia should read Edouard LaCroix.

It was sold to LaCroix by Ferguson & Allen in late 1927/early 1928.

LaCroix owned the Madawaska Co. until it was bought out by Irving pulp and Paper.  Madawaska Co. built and operated the northern 13 miles of the railroad while Great Northern Paper owned and operated the 5 miles of track south from Umbazooksus.

The date for the sale to the state of maine is 1968
