NSWGR 2705 is one of a class of 8 imported by Public Works Department for railway construction. In 1927 taken into NSWGR stock. 2705 was withdrawn 1960 and went into preservation in 1963. It was used on steam specials until retired to Thirlmere. It became an exhibit there until mid 90s when it received an overhaul and is now operational again. The class of locos retained their cow catchers all their lives. Even though 2705s does not look original design.
