No 6 was taken out of storage in 1960 to operate with No8 on the 'West Coaster', a passenger and vehicle service from Zeehan to Guildford Junction. The train operated with 2 coaches and a few flat wagons for the cars. Both engines overhauled, converted to burn oil and smoke deflectors fitted. Normal black changed to a blue livery. Only ran for 3 years until the Murchison Highway was fully opened in 1964.
