It has been announced that ex GWR 5700 Class 0-6-0PT No. 9629 has been sold to Leaky Finders who are now the new owners of the locomotive. No. 9629 was built at Swindon in 1945 and spent much of her working life primarily in Wales, or in the West Country, being based in Exeter for a number of years. Which is bit of a home coming as Leaky Finders at at Hele in Devon is near Exeter. Having being saved for preservation and escaping the cutters torch at the now infamous Barry Scrap yard, it is yet to have ever steamed in preservation, which Leaky Finders plan to do so as No. 9629 will be leaving the Pontypool & Blaenavon Railway and relocating to its new home at Leaky Finders at Hele in Devon for full restoration back into working order again. Once restored, No. 9629 will be put out on the hire market, being a reasonably strong and economical locomotive for nearly any heritage railway in the country.
