I am a Volunteer with the KVRHC (The Group that owns ATSF 3463) We are looking to relocate it, cosmetically restore it and if funds, manpower and other things allow possible eventual operational restoration.

Undoubtedly, the largest of all "Hudsons", the 3463 is truly a very unique locomotive. Looks to be in much disrepair, yet this locomotive would be an excellent candidate for main line excursion service. With such large drivers and cylinders the 3463 certainly would have the power and speed. All it takes is money! :)

Sorry to say that there is no way this is being restored. I visited it recently at the expo center in Topeka. It is a wreck and poorly cared fore.

If they ran this engine on the mainline to Chicago,I have seen. I crossed the tracks every school day from 1937 to 1946 at Stronghurst,Illinois where I lived.I waited on those trains, marvelled at the engines, and listened to them at night. They stopped there for water when they needed it, and went through at high speed when they didn't. Jobie Spencer

Gentlemen: Are there plans to preserve this great Hudson (a roof or a paint job)ore do they let this great loco just "rust" away?
