After a few years being parked in a siding at Alresford Station since it arrived from Barry in Wales where work had been taking place to its running gear, BR Standard 4MT 2-6-4T No. 80150 was successfully moved along the Mid Hants Railway to their main shed at Ropley where full restoration can get underway more now.

Part of the Barry 10 group of locos bought for a proposal for a Welsh Railway Centre which never got going.

Latest plans are for this one to go to the Mid Hants Railway to be returned to full working order. This is in exchange for a turntable that is surplus to requirements at Ropley

One of a number of preserved class British Railways Standard 4MT tank engines, 80150 is one of the BR 'Standard' designs, but is a development of the LMS Stanier/Ivatt 2-6-4T. These class 4 tank locos are justifiably popular with preserved lines. Designed for bunker first running, they are powerful enough for most of the needs of preserved operation, without the very high running costs of higher power classification locos.
