The loan visit of ex GWR 5205 Class 2-8-0T No. 5239 "Goliath" to the Mid Hants Railway (Watercress Line) has been extended until January 2024, to help a locomotive shortage during the Christmas Season there, as No. 5239 will be working their Santa Specials and their popular Train of Lights trips.

In a suprise move the ex GWR 5205 Class 2-8-0T No. 5239 "Goliath" is to make her first Gala visit to another preserved railway away from the Dartmouth Steam Railway for the very first time, As No. 5239 has been added as a second visiting locomotive at the Mid Hants Railway for their Spring Steam Gala from the 29th of April to the 1st of May 2023.

The ex GWR 5205 Class 2-8-0T No. 5239 "Goliath" has now left the East Somerset Railway and has returned back home to the Dartmouth Steam Railway at Paignton in Devon.

The former GWR 5205 Class 2-8-0T No. 5239 "Goliath" was steamed and moved for the first time since 2017 marking the completion of its overhaul at the East Somerset Railway. The locomotive will begin running in trials and final painting at the East Somerset and maybe hauling Santa Specials there over the Christmas season before returning home to the Dartmouth Steam Railway.

No. 5239 "Goliath" has now arrived at the East Somerset Railway at Cranmore for its overhaul there in the coming years.

The GWR 5205 Class 2-8-0T No. 5239 is being moved to the East Somerset Railway to be overhauled and rebuilt there for the Dartmouth Steam Railway. The loco will be moving there soon.
