The overhaul on ex Ashington Colliery, Peckett built 0-6-0ST Works No. 1970 "Ashington No. 5", has now been completed and the locomotive is back operational and hauling trains at the North Tyneside Steam Railway again.

The visit of ex Ashington Colliery, Peckett built 0-6-0ST Works No. 1970 "Ashington No. 5", to the North Norfolk Railway for their Festival on Rails and 50th Anniversary Steam Gala has had to be put on hold until next year now as the locomotive is not quite finnished from its overhaul yet. But the locomotive will visit the North Norfolk Railway during 2026.

Now near the end of its overhaul, the ex Ashington Colliery, Peckett built 0-6-0ST Works No. 1970 "Ashington No. 5", will be visiting its first home in preservation at the North Norfolk Railway for the summer. "Ashington No. 5" was one of the first steam locomotives to operate on the North Norfolk Railway in its early preservation years and had hauled the first members steam trains at their in August 1969. She then made regular appearances out on the line when the railway opened for public running in 1975 and making her return to them this summer is very special indeed. During her visit "Ashington No. 5" will take part in their Festival on Rails from the 23rd to 28th August and their 50th Anniversary Steam Gala from the 29th to 31st of August 2025.

Former Ashington Colliery Peckett built 0-6-0ST "Ashington No. 5" will be the second visiting locomotive at NRM Locomotion at Shildon for their Autumn Steam Gala on the 22nd and 23rd of September 2018. This will be the locomotive s first visit away from its Stephenson Railway Museum home.

Unfortunately the loco is dismantled with the boiler away for overhaul and it also needs some platework repairs to the saddle tank. 'Howay the lads, get Wor Jackie back in service!'
