Having worked its final trains at the East Somerset Railway over the weekend, the ex LMS BR Built Ivatt 2MT 2-6-0 No. 46447, has now been withdrawn from service to undergo its 10 year overhaul.

The ex LMS BR Built Ivatt 2MT 2-6-0 No. 46447 is to stay at the East Somerset Railway for another 10 years of service as both the East Somerset Railway and the Isle of Wight Steam Railway who are the owners of No. 46447 have announced that No. 46447 will be overhauled again at Cranmore followed by a further 10 year running agreement at the East Somerset Railway. As the Isle of Wight Steam Railway are happy to continue their strong working relationship with the East Somerset Railway. This agreement is in the best long-term interests of No. 46447 and will see the locomotive continue steaming for a further period. No. 46447 is due to be withdrawn from serice for its overhaul in 2024, so 2023 will be the last operating season for the locomotive.

LMS BR Built Ivatt 2MT 2-6-0 No. 46447 is to become the very first tender locomotive to run on the Isle of Wight when it come to visit the Isle of Wight Steam Railway for there Three Ivatt Gala from the 26th to the 28th of May 2018. Where the locomotive will join its Isle of Wight base 2MT Tank sisters No. 41298 and 41313. All three are owned by the Isle of Wight Steam Railway and No. 46447 will return back to the East Somerset Railway on the mainland after this event as it is on term loan to them.
