A classic little Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway shunter, as immortalised by the Airfix kit and the Hornby model. They were used extensively in Liverpool docks where the short wheelbase was ideal for the tight curves that characterise dock estates.

Do watch the video of the loco, running as sister loco 51222 at Goole Docks in the 21st Century. You'll see it cope with sharp curves on this great bit of nostalgia for anyone who ever watched steam locos shunting UK ports. If you haven't had that experience, this video is as near as you'll get. Don't miss the Leyland Octopus lorry and the Ford 7V lorry either. Can we have the 1950s back, please?
