I have two comments about this Steam Locomotive. First being, it is NOT the only operational Steam Locomotive in Louisiana. SPX-745 is a standard gauge Mikado, Steam Locomotive located across the hwy from Ochsner Hospital in Jefferson, LA. She has been operational since late 2004, and is operated by The Louisiana Steam Train Assiciation (LASTA). She is the only surviving Louisiana built standard gauge Steam Locomotive in existence. SPX-745 is on the National Registry of Historic Places. Her number is 98001077. Second The Old Hickory Steam Locomotive is being rebuilt at this time. I was there a few months ago and the boiler was still in the shop being rebuilt. I have a few pictures, and I will try to post them to the web site, if I can. Bill Morris LASTA COO
