As of 2/9/2026, the locomotive has arrived home to California for the first time in almost 40 years, it has arrived safely at the Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad in Fish Camp, CA.

On Wednesday, January 21st, 2026, the Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad in Fish Camp, California, announced that it had officially acquired West Side Lumber Company Three-Truck Shay No. 12 from Lindsey and Rosa Ashby, for restoration and operation alongside fellow West Side Shays Nos. 10 and 15. As of today (Wednesday, February 4th, 2026), No. 12 is on its way via truck to Fish Camp.

This engine, #14, #40, #44, and #8 now live at the Colorado Railroad Museum.  Engines #12, #40, #14, and #346 will be the engines supplying the motive power while #44, #318, and #8 get rebuilt back to service.
