The overhaul on the ex Victorian Railways K Class 2-8-0 No. K160, has now been completed and the locomotive is operational again and is set to make its return to steam during Steamrail Victoria’s Open Weekend at their Newport Workshops from the 7th to 9th of March 2026. After this the locomotive will return home to the Victorian Goldfields Railway at Maldon, Victoria for more testing and running-in trials before entering service this year.

Victorian Railways K160 was in service from December 1950 and withdrawn 1977. Purchased 1979. 1986 after restoration it has worked trains on the Victorian Goldfield Railway which operates between Castlemaine and Maldon
