SY 1772 was in steam again for the Tiefa Steam Locomotive Museum Diaobingshan steam locomotive festival this month which is now a big tourist attraction in China. It seems that the museum now operates the Tiefa Coal Mine System as a tourist railway which it has been used as a film location for many Chinese movies in recent times. Using SY 1772 in many of them and there are also reports of members of the Chinese public are having a go at driving and firing some of the steam locos there as well.

SY 1772 is one of the very last SY Class 2-8-2s to be built at Tangshan in the late 1990s. All tho it has a 1999 builders plate on it not all were built that year but they were built in the later part of that Decade. The SYs when built were not offden fitted with a builders plate till they had been sold. SY 1772 is reported to be still in working order and is part of a small fleet of SYs at Tiefa that are part of a Heritage fleet there.
