Recent notes of this loco show it to be a 2-6-2Tank loco of 18" gauge built by Davenport 8-40 serial 2304. 8 tons and streamlined to resemble B&O 5304 Royal Blue streamlined steamer. Bermuda websites show it in better shape and alive. Numbered 999.

This locomotive was a 2-6-2 built for Vincent Astor's Ferry Reach Railway, and was numbered 999, like the high-speed steam locomotive of the early 20th century. I am fairly sure it was a Vulcan, perhaps a Davenport, but I don't think it was a Baldwin, perhaps built in the late 1930s. It was a streamlined locomotive similar to types on the B&O with an enclosed cab, but no tender. It is indeed 18" gauge. The line also had a battery electric locomotive. The train was last said to have operated in 1971. The rails for this railroad are said to be abandoned in situ. The folks at the Bermuda Railroad museum were apparently unable to have the locomotive owners part with this rusting relic, in the early 1990s. For more info (but still not quite a complete history) see "The Bermuda Railway" by Colin Pomeroy. I know some owners of 18" gauge railroads who could very much utilize a locomotive of this type.
