C55-50 is another case of Class C55 numbers getting mixed up, though the mistake has since been reversed. When originally displayed at Otaru, the locomotive wore the plate for C55-30. This is significant because C55-30 belongs to the second batch of C55 which was originally streamlined, and differed somewhat in detail from the preserved C55-50 which belongs to the third and final batch of C55.
