The Hocking Valley Scenic railway as of 2012 is in contact with Covington, Va. to try and bring back the engine to the Hocking Valley Headquarters in Nelsonville, Ohio. Nelsonville was home of the HockingValley Railroad.

Hello,

I own and maintain the Hocking Valley Ry. Info. Center website at www.chescweb.com/hvrail.  I noticed on your website that you have a listing for C&O no. 701.  This locomotive is very unique in that it is the last surviving steamer of the Hocking Valley Railway, located entirely in Ohio.  The C&O acquired control of the HV in 1910 and set about conforming some motive power to C&O standards.  Thus the 701 (formerly HV 171) was built to C&O standards, yet built and lettered for the HV.  For more info and pictures concerning this locomotive (and the HV for that matter), check out my website at the address listed above.

Thanks much!
