After speaking to a man in the shop, this engine is going to be on the road again even before 3713. It needs less work due to having been just taken off tube time. 3713 still needs 3 million to the boiler.

I went to Steamtown 3 days ago and saw this engine in the shop, it looked like it had an automatic/mechanical stoker, this would mean it burnt coal like al the other Steamtown operating engines, (3254 & 26, 26 is being overhualed, last operated a few years ago.)But in the bottom Photo Album picture it has an oil tank in its tender. I want to know does it burn coal like most CP engines, or was it converted to burn oil? Has it been converted back to coal?

2317 has run out of service days and is no longer operable.

As of December 2009, 2317 has completed her duties for the 2008-2009 Steamtown season. She has a few operational days left for 2010, to be used during certain festivities in the first half of the year. Once those days are used up, she will be put into storage to await her turn in the locomotive shop. Work will commence on her when Baldwin 26 and (to my knowledge) Boston & Maine 3713 are finished.

As of 3/4/07 she is in the back shop, with her tires removed off the driver , and new tires will be cut and put back on the driver. The tender has been finished. She is due out by April of this year.

This very fine lady won't be running untill 2007 or 2008! I hope she gets done before that!

The photo seen in the info page of the 2317 shows the engine in the CPR Tuscan Red and Gunmetal Grey Passenger livery. Steamtown U.S.A. management didn't know it, but there was NO HISTORICAL EVIDENCE that the 2317 ever wore that livery during her career!

I've watched Pentrex's "Steamtown Grand Opening" and my favorite scene is where the 2317 STORMS up the Miller Rd. grade with the 5-chimer BLASTING away!

I'm going to Railcamp in the summer and I hope to see that Canadian Lady ROAR past the Steamtown Mall!

See ya Later!
