This engine is being restored by an individual whom is a great friend of mine, and it is going to be done sometime next year. The boiler has been under steam already, and the throttle already opened to clear out the cylinders. They have also bought a branch line with good scenery and some coaches to run excursion trains on.

I heard that the owner of the MS Rail Lines wants to use this locomotive in regular freight service and it will be oerated every day in freight service

The locomotive is currently in the restoration process. Drivers are done and valve gear is mostly done. Current work includes the running gear. Boiler work will come later.

The engine has officially been sold to SMS Rail Lines of New Jersey, and is awaiting pickup by their company from the New Hope and Ivyland property. Apparently, the president of SMS plans to return the locomotive to operation.

I was just in New Hope, and what I assume is No. 9 (since it didn't have a number plate or cab, but was the only 0-6-0 present) is now languishing at the very end of the dead line. As you can tell from the photos, it should be listed as "derelict". http://www.flickr.com/photos/22727902@N06/3062908598/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/22727902@N06/3061972873/

This and another 0-6-0 #7 were part of the original fleet of NH&I steam. #7 sat in Buckingham for years as a source of parts for #9 and eventually was cut up for scrap in the late 70's.  #9 was in service for a brief time in the late 60's then sat idle untill 1976 when restored to service as part of a contract with the state for the Bi-Centennial service which was a 7 day a week operation from New Hope to Warminster. The locomotive has been out of service since the early 80's. It was for years a display next to the Union Camp Paper Bag Company building directly across from the New Hope Station. Was put in the shop for an overhaul in the mid 90's but never completed as funding and also concideration of the damage a 0-6-0 can do to track sidelined the restoration. The engine is dismantled and now up for sale with D.F. Barndhart for a reported $30,000.....needs alot of work yet to get in operation.
