1551 had either new tubes or tube repairs in 2004 for the festival but work was not done in time. She needs a lot of work but it sound like she will be back soon.

#1551 is currently under a tarp awaiting an overhaul. Since Ohio Central just got the 763 they are working on that not 1551.

The 1551 is somewhat back together as of October 24,2004.Though not complete, the side sheets and smokebox door are on.Don't know if the tubes are in.

P.S. This is a fairly large 4-6-0

This is locomotive is the oldest working working locomotive on the ohio central roster so got its nickname puff. The ohio central was planing to bring  #1551 to the dennison railroad museum for the trainfest04, but the overhaul wasn't completed so it stayed in the morgan run shops. So all the other steam locomotives on the roster went to dennison.  Maybe in 2005 #1551 will be back pulling trains from Sugarcreeck to Baltic, Ohio.

Orig. part of Steamtown collection. While it was in Vermont I think the actually did try and restore #1551 to operating condition, but stopped. It was traded en-route to Scranton in New York for Lackawanna 2-6-0 #565, #1551 actually ended up going back to Canada(?) and then to the Ohio Central.

Sister to #1395 sold at auction on October 29, 1988 in Scranton.

1551 is currently undergoing an overhaul at the Ohio Central's Morgan Run Shops. Not to worry though, The little 4-6-0 should be back in buisness soon.
