as of 3/3/25, the George r is in Durango for a rebuild. It was seen in the Durango yard

At the time of my visit, George R was sitting in the roundhouse awaiting some work. still carrying the same whistle from the last time she operated. Not sure when she last operated. Fun fact, She was originally named Victoria R.

Well, the retired post about 2002 isn't true, she just got new tubes in 2001 i beleive, and is still in operation.  We use it when we wash boilers on the two vulcans or we have problems on the other two and need to work on them.  Also for special occasionas like 4th of July and memorial day and so on.  But it is still in operation.
