I was informed by someone down at the Allentown And Auburn Railroad that this locomotive will soon be rejoining the all of the other standard PRR locomotives at the RR Museum of PA at Strasburg through a deal where the New York Museum is giving up this engine to the Strasburg Museum, the Strasburg Museum is giving the Nickel Plate Berkshire to a third museum, and this third museum is giving something to the New York Museum.

Was part of the PRR locomotive collection stored at Northumberland, PA. One of the only locomotives of the collection not to go to the RR Museum of PA at Strasburg, PA.

#4483 was given a complete 16 gallon application of Dark Locomotive Green Enamel paint in May of 2003. Many, many hours of scraping, grinding and priming were put into the engine before the paint job. PRR Buff lettering was redone on both sides. Oil on all moving is added as needed.

Actually, Chris, I don't agree with you. I think its present owners have done a magnificent job of cosmetic restoration of this locomotive, and that they deserve a lot of credit for what they've accomplished.

The attached link will go to a photo of 4483 in storage at Northumberland, PA. Its frightening to think how close many of these prized locomotives came to being destroyed.

Loco is NOT to be restored to operating condition per WNYRRHS:

"Plans for operational restoration are not in the immediate future due to the economic climate and the lack of railroads willing to take on the insurance risks. However, from professional mechanical inspections, the boiler has been found to be sound but will need retubing and flues. "

Cosmetic restoration is now complete.
