engine # 7 is doing quite well it makes 10 runs a day at athol idaho, its conversion to use used motor oil works quite well, it burns with a clear stack and hot !   one thing i would like to add is that when it was in bill harrahs collection he added fancy brass rings on the boiler, brass rings on the sanding domes  and on the steam dome and the smoke stack. it ran from eurika nevada to palasades nevda between the mines, hauling miners and equipment until the mines closed around 1938.  chet wachsmuth   fireman/ engineer  #7 silverwood central railroad

The Eureka-Nevada was a reorganization of the Eureka and Palisade which ran from it's connection with the CP/SP in Palisade to the mines in Eureka.

Silverwood's No.7 Porter locomotive began life in 1915 as Eureka-Nevada's second No. 7 and served in that capacity until 1938 when Eureka-Nevada ceased operations. It next turned up in Arcadia,CA as part of Lyon's Pony Express Museum whera it resided until about 1955. By 1961 it had become part of the Bill Harrah collection in Reno,NV where it was rebuilt and "restyled" to resemble an older locomotive. The Porter was bought at auction in 1986 and brought to Athol,ID to become the centerpiece of a new amusement park to be called Silverwood. Built as a coal burner, at Silverwood attempts were made to fire the boiler using wood. This proved to be unsatisfactory and No. 7 was converted to burn reclaimed motor oil. An oil tank was installed where her coal bunker had been. No.7 has been operational at Silverwood since the park opening in 1988. Ken Linville Engineer/Fireman Silverwood

The ownership traces the history well.  I would like to add a bit of info gained throught a talk with her engineer.  The engine was at auction in 1986.  When the price reached $250,000, only 2 bidders were left.  Gary Norton and a rep from Disneyland.  Disney was looking for more tractive effort and #7 fit the bill.  They would only go for $250,000, so Gary got it.  I wonder how it would have looked at Main Street Station.  Hmmmmm.

This locomotive was operated by the Eureka-Nevada RR at some point in its life, perhaps all of it prior to acquisition by Silverwood.
