Nevada Northern 93 is now in service after being out of service since June of 2007. She finally received her four new axles, refurbished drive boxes, new crownbrass all around, new spring rigging, and repainted cab to her original NCCCo(Nevada Consolidated Copper Company) lettering. She arrived on January 17, 1909 at Ely, Nevada and has only left the NNRy rails one time(2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City) to join Heber Valley Railroad steam locomotives: 618 and 75.

As of this year, locomotive #93 has been removed from service along with engine #40 due to cracks that have developed over the years in 2 of the main drive axles. This is to be a long and expensive repair. The estimated cost is at least $200K per locomotive. The Museum hopes to have this engine back in service by July, but I wouldn't count on it. Number 93 is at 99-years of age, and one of her axles hasn't been replaced since the late 20s, so age has affected this old girl. The good thing is once after the axles are repaired, number 93 will be back under steam, and will be in service for many more years to come.
