This locomotive is very unusual as it is one of five 3-cylinder (non-Shay) locomotives that have been preserved in the United States. The third cylinder is on the center line directly under the boiler. The other four are Baldwin Locomotive Works #60000 (4-10-2) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, London & North Eastern #60008 "Dwight D. Eisenhower" (4-6-2) in Green Bay, Wisconsin and Union Pacific #9000 (4-12-2) and Southern Pacific #5021 (4-10-2) both in Pomona, California.
