The slightly angled cylinders suggest it was made by Porter, though there were some builders in Europe and Britain which used this technique, but overall . . . probably a Porter in heavy makeup.

The origin of this steam engine is still unknown. Most likely used in Panama before brought to San Jose. It was still working, occasionally, by early 1970s, shunting the yards at the Ferrocarril Electrico al Pacifico.
