Not that I've ever picked it up myself, but I don't believe this locomotive weighs 90,000#. As it is the sister to Western & Atlantic #3, and was built by the same company, based on information off the Confederate States of America Railroads page, www.csa-railroads.com, for "Savannah, Albany & Gulf Locomotives" roster page, which was a partner of Atlantic & Gulf RR, the locomotive weighs 22 tons, 44,000#. In reality it probably weighs 22-25 tons, dry weight. 90,000# seems really high for a southern railroad in 1858.

This locomotive was originally named "Satilla" after the Satilla River. Original driver diameter was 60".

1858 Atlantic & Gulf “President” Rogers 4-4-0 No. 3  - This is a woodburner type steam locomotive, which was built at Paterson, New Jersey for the Atlantic & Gulf Railroad. Its original nickname was the “Sam Hill”. It was later renamed the “President” by Henry Ford, as it pulled a special train with President Herbert Hoover and Thomas Edison among others for the 1929 dedication of Henry Ford Museum & Greenfield Village.
