#4 has been stored at the Wiscasset, Waterville, and Farmington’s roundhouse in Alna, ME for several years. Entirely new boiler to be constructed by Brian at Maine Locomotive and Machine Works; his property borders WW&F, and his shop is now connected by rail. Brian also re-gauged and constructed the current boiler for (former Edaville RR) H. K.Porter #11, which is now owned by Brian, and the only tender engine operating at WW&F.

I attended a guest engineer program there. They say it was used to haul slate from quarries.

FRA began regulating MNGRR in the beginning of 2004.  Since that time, Monson #4 is the only locomotive that has been been brought up to code and is the only one being operated.  While the other three locomotives are technically operable, none has a current Form 4.  The railroad has plans to restore them all to service, but they are a volunteer operation and this will take some time.
