W934 in service 1951 and withdrawn in 1972. Purchased By Pichi Richi Railway in 1974. Transferred from Western Australia to South Australia on standard gauge wagons in March 1974. Unloaded at Port Augusta and cleaned, overhauled and painted. 13 July 1974 moved under steam to Quorn taking rolling stock. 20th July 1974 hauled the official re-opening train. Has since worked many specials on the railway. At present is undergoing an overhaul in Quorn workshops.

The Pichi Richi Railway group was only formed 22nd July 1973. Their first loco was T186, but it required overhaul at Islington works, Adelaide. So two Western Australia Railways W class locos were purchased so they could be quickly returned to steam. The disused railway from Quorn to Port Augusta was cleared of rock falls, mud & weeds. At least one bridge replaced and more strengthened. The railways official opening was 20th July 1974. The railway has a good group of volunteers, many coming to stay for a week or more. So old coaches have been converted to accommodate them at Quorn. The railway then has the man power to do any heavy track repairs & general maintenance.
