Ja 1250 also took part in the 2006 Steam hauled overlanders. it ran From Pukekohe to Te Kuiti and return

Ja 1250 double headed with Ka 945 with the Main Trunk centenial special in april 1985 from Auckland to wellington over a 2 day period. This trip was the first Steam haulded exursion since steam loco's were banned from running on the main line in the early 1970s
