Due to a large amount of project mismanagement on the part of the engines owners the state funding for the restoration of this engine was pulled in the beginning of April, 2015. As of June 2015 the boiler is still separated away from the frame, the running gear has not been installed, nor has any type of final assembly of the locomotive begun. Project should be considered indefinitely stalled or dead until some legitimate progress is seen.

Union Railroad #77 (Now K&T #14) is currently 80% completed. Her tender is fully restored and all that is left is final assembly and finishing of the locomotive itself. In September 2009 the offices of Governer Steve Breasher announced that the State of Kentucky was donating a $600,000 grant for the completion of the project in hopes of raising tourism numbers in the area.

According to a recent phone call I made, they told me that this engine is 70 percent done. I hope to donate to this railroad soon.

#77 operated for the Union Railroad until she was sold to the Morehead and North Fork Railroad in Morehead, Kentucky. She operated there as #14 until the late sixties along with M&NF #12 when she was sold to the Tombstone Junction Amusment Park and renumbered #77 where she operated until 1989. The amusement park then burned down and #77 was sold to the K&T to be restored and operate on the Big South Fork Scenic Railway.

She is still currently painted in her Tombstone Junction colors but when the restoration is finished she will be painted in K&T color and plans are coincidently to renumber her #14 as that is the next number available on the old K&T's steam roster.
