With painting finally completed, ex GWR 5700 Class 0-6-0PT No. 7754 has been turned out in early nationalisation livery - GWR green with “British Railways” on the pannier tanks as it would have looked from 1948. No. 7754 will now begin testing and running in trials. All being well the locomotive should enter service at the Llangollen Railway this weekend.

Following a successful steam test, ex GWR 5700 Class 0-6-0PT No. 7754 moved under her own steam again for the first time in 19 years and is now opreational again. The locomotive will now undergo testing and running trials before entring service at the Llangollen Railway in time for the opening of their extention to Corwen. The livery No. 7754 will carry will be GWR Green livery.

The ex GWR 5700 Class 0-6-0PT No. 7754 is nearing completion from its overhaul and rebuildin the workshop at the Llangollen Railway and it is hoped that No. 7754 will be ready in time for the offical opening the Llangollen Railway’s new extention to Corwen which is due to open to trains again on the 1st of June 2023.

The boiler of ex GWR 5700 Class 0-6-0PT No. 7754 successfully underwent its offical steam test and will soon be placed back onto the frames of the locomotive. It is hoped the No. 7754 will enter service at the Llangollen Railway in 2023 and it will give the railway a second operational steam locomotive after the recent troubles the Llangollen Railway has been through.

7754 is to be overhauled as the Llangollen Railway has just launched a £15,000 appeal to have this carried out. The overhaul is expected to take 18 months and the GWR Pannier Tank could be back in 2018 or early 2019.
