Restoration to get LMS 8F No. 48173 to running order is underway at the Churnet Valley Railway s Cheddleton shed since the spring. Its hoped to complete the restoration and steam it in 4 years.

The loco was still at Bitton in december 2007. The pony truck axle is said to be seized after the loco has stood for so many years without moving.

Currently unrestored, the loco has been sold and was to be moved to the Churnet Valley Railway for restoration.
