Sorry this is a re-write. This is the history and insite of BR Standard 9F 2-10-0 No. 92212, which is one of six of the Swindon built 9F’s to survive in preservation out of Fifty-three 9F’s that were built at Swindon Works between 1954 to 1960 out of a total of 251, 9F’s built between Swindon and Crewe Works. No. 92212 was among the last batch of 9F’s built at Swindon in September 1959, and it went new to Banbury in the same year. It had a breif stint at Bath Green Park, where it worked over the legendry Somerset and Dorset Joint Line from June 1961 until September that year when it was transferred to Ebbw Junction and then to Tyseley from July 1962. Its last shed it worked from for British Railways in its last years of service was at Carnforth in Lancashire from November 1966. Where worked out of until it was withdrawn from service in January 1968 and was one of the last few BR Standard 9F’s to just make it into the final year of steam on British Rail, but didn’t quite make it to the very end sadly. No. 92212 would end up at Dai Woodham’s famous scrapyard at Barry in South Wales along with many other steam locomotives that went there to rust away. No. 92212 would remain at Barry until September 1979 after being there for eleven years. It moved to the Great Central Railway up at Loughborough in Leicestershire for restoration and steamed again in the Autumn of 1996. No. 92212 operated at the Great Central Railway and visited many other preserved railways around the UK until it was withdrawn from service for another overhaul, which by this time it had been sold to Jeremy Hosking in 2006. No. 92212 returned to steam again at its current base at the Mid Hants Railway (the Watercress Line) in 2011, where it operated along with visits to other preserved railways until it was withdrawn from service again for another overhaul its second in preservation. No. 92212 is currently still being overhauled in the workshops at Ropley, where it is to use the boiler from sister 9F No. 92245.

BR Standard 9F 2-10-0 No. 92212 has now left the Llangollen Railway as they cannot carry out its overhaul as the railway has stopped its engineering contracts work now. No. 92212 has been relocated to a private site in the Midlands. Locomotive Services Ltd still intend to have the locomotive overhauled but they have not decided where yet.

9F 92212 will now be moved to the Llangollen Railway to receive her 10 year overhaul earlier than expected. This is due to limited accommodation at Crewe so the engine would have waited for an overhaul for a lot longer.

BR Standard 9F 2-10-0 No. 92212 will initially be moved to Locomotive Storage Ltd (One:One Collection) at the old Hornby Factory at Margate in Kent for display while it awaits a slot for overhaul at LNWR Heritage at Crewe where the spare boiler from sister 9F No. 92245 is being overhauled in readiness for fitting to 92212.

Russell, 92212 is to be sent to LNWR Crewe to have the boiler from sister engine 92245 fitted. Therefore she will receive an overhaul and not go into storage at Margate.

Having hauled its final trains at the Mid-Hants Railway today BR Standard 9F 2-10-0 No. 92212 has been withdrawn from service having reached the end of its 10 year boiler ticket. Its unknown if the locomotive will receive a overhaul or be moved to Locomotive Storage Ltd (One:One Collection) at the old Hornby Factory at Margate in Kent?

Owned by Jeremy Hoskin, 92212 has spent a large chunk of her preservation career at the preserved Great Central Railway, until transfer by the new owner to Hants where and Overhaul has been taking place.
