The Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway’s American Outline Pacific No. 9 "Winston Churchill",, is making a return visit to the Bure Valley Railway for their 35th Anniversary Gala Weekend on 7th & 8th June 2025, as No. 9 "Winston Churchill" along with No. 6 "Samson" was one of two locomotives from the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway that hauled the offical openning train on the Bure Valley Railway’s opening day as a 15inch gauge railway on the 10th July 1990 and remained with them for the 1990 season until the railway had their own steam locomotives ready then. Whilst the locomotives have returned individually they have never been back to Norfolk together, so this is a very special occasion.

No. 9 "Winston Churchill" will also be visiting the Bure Valley Railway for their 30th anniversary Gala on the 11th and 12th of July 2020. As 30 years ago in 1990 before the Bure Valley Railway had any steam locomotives of their own it was both No. 9 "Winston Churchill" and No. 6 "Samson" from the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway that hauled the official opening train along the Bure Valley line back then. Which the 15inch gauge line runs on the trackbed of the old Standard gauge East Norfolk Railway and still going strong today 30 years on.
