The Nene Valley Railway has launched an appeal to raise more than £250,000 to complete a vital overhaul of BR Standard 5MT 4-6-0 No. 73050 "City of Peterborough", which is their flagship locomotive having been in preservation for almost 55 years. The present work commenced in 2017 with considerable attention being lavished on the boiler, which has the original 70-year-old steel fabric. Along with the comprehensive overhaul of the boiler, work continues apace and the frames, wheels and motion are gradually being re-assembled. But more money for the overhaul is still needed and details for the appeal can beound on the Nene Valley Railway’s website and social media pages.
