Following its visit to the Epping Ongar Railway and more filming for the upcoming Harry Potter television series at Leavesden Studio in Harfordshire, the ex GWR Modified Hall Class 4-6-0 No. 6989 "Wightwick Hall", is returning to the Bluebell Railway for the late spring and summer and will be taking part in their World of Wizardry event from the 24th to 30th of May 2026. As well as running at the Bluebell Railway and its film work in the Harry Potter television series the locomotive could be visiting other preserved railways around the UK in the coming months ahead?

The ex GWR Modified Hall Class 4-6-0 No. 6989 "Wightwick Hall", in its new Harry Potter, Hogwarts Express red livery will be visiting the Epping Ongar Railway for the first time for their upcoming Great Western themed Steam Gala from the 17th to 19th of April 2026.

After its short visit back home to the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre and making its pubic debut in its Harry Potter, Hogwarts Express livery there, the ex GWR Modified Hall Class 4-6-0 No. 6989 "Wightwick Hall", has now returned on loan to the Bluebell Railway where it will be based inbetween filming use for the upcoming Harry Potter television series and will be hauling trains there in its new livery for the first time during the October half term from the 25th to 31st of October 2025.

Following its filming use for the first series of the upcoming Harry Potter television series at Leavesden Studio in Harfordshire, the ex GWR Modified Hall Class 4-6-0 No. 6989 "Wightwick Hall", is making a return visit to its home at the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre in its new Hogwarts Railways Red livery for a special series of steam days there on the Sundays 5th and 19th of October 2025, afterwords the locomotive will return to the Bluebell Railway to continue its loan to them inbetween its filming rolls.

Now fully painted in the famous Hogwarts Railways Red livery, its been revealed that ex GWR Modified Hall Class 4-6-0 No. 6989 "Wightwick Hall", has been renumbered to and turned out as Hogwarts Railways No. 5977 for the upcoming Harry Potter television series which is currently being filmed at Leavesden Studio. No. 6989 "Wightwick Hall" will be returning to the Bluebell Railway in its Hogwarts Railways Red livery later in the year in October and could take part in their upcoming Giants of Steam Gala from the 17th to 19th of October 2025.

The ex GWR Modified Hall Class 4-6-0 No. 6989 "Wightwick Hall", will follow in the footsteps of ex GWR Hall Class 4-6-0 No. 5972 "Olton Hall" (Hogwarts Castle) as it has been selected for the starring role as the iconic locomotive for the Hogwarts Express in the upcoming Harry Potter television series which begins filming soon. No. 6989 will be going away from the Bluebell Railway for a repaint into the famous Hogwarts Red Livery and filming on a short section of track laid at Leavesden Studio and other filming locations and is planned to return to the Bluebell Railway to continue its loan to them between filming sessions.

The ex GWR Modified Hall Class 4-6-0 No. 6989 "Wightwick Hall" has had its stay at the Bluebell Railway extended until October 2023, as No. 6989 will help cover a locomotive shortage during the summer months there.

With its repairs nearly completed, ex GWR Modified Hall Class 4-6-0 No. 6989 "Wightwick Hall" will be visiting the Bluebell Railway for the summer season. It will be the first time a GWR Modified Hall Class 4-6-0 has visited the line. No. 6989 will be debut at the Bluebell Railway during their Model Railway Weekend on the 2nd and 3rd of July 2022.

As mentioned the ex GWR Modified Hall Class 4-6-0 No. 6989 "Wightwick Hall" is returning home to the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre after its loan to the Battlefield Line Railway ended due to the locomotive failing with a problem which repairs will be carried out at Quainton Road over the winter.

The ex GWR Modified Hall Class 4-6-0 No. 6989 "Wightwick Hall" is going on a two year loan to the Battlefield Line Railway at Shackerstone in Leicestershire where it will remain until January 2023.

The newly restored No. 6989 "Wightwick Hall" is currently visiting the Battlefield Line Railway for their 50th Anniversary Gala weekend from the 18th to 20th of October 2019. But it has just been announced that the locomotive will be staying at the railway for a further 3 months till January 2020.

No. 6989 "Wightwick Hall" is to have its big official public launch in to service at the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre after its 41 year restoration on the weekend of the 2nd and 3rd of March 2019.

GWR Modified Hall Class 4-6-0 No. 6989 "Wightwick Hall" has been steamed and moved under its own steam for the very first time in almost 41 years. This marks the completion of 6989s restoration and is the 150th steam locomotive that was rescued from Dai Woodhams Yard in Barry South Wales to steam again in preservation. No. 6989 will under go testing before it is let lose on the Heritage Railway circuit in 2019.
