The ex GWR 4500 Class Small Prairie 2-6-2T No. 5553, is located at the Bodmin Railway at Bodmin in Cornwall, where it is in storage there while it awaits its future as the locomotive is still up for sale by its owner Pete Waterman.

The ex GWR 4500 Class Small Prairie 2-6-2T No. 5553, has had a number of problems and has had to be withdrawn from service for another overhaul more sooner then planned. The locomotive is currently in storage at the Bodmin Railway at Bodmin in Cornwall and is still up for sale.

Currently on loan to the Bodmin Railway at Bodmin in Cornwall, where it is located, the ex GWR 4500 Class Small Prairie 2-6-2T No. 5553, has now been put up for sale by its owner Pete Waterman to see it go to a new home for future preservation.

Pete Waterman’s ex GWR 4500 Class Small Prairie 2-6-2T No. 5553 will be visiting the Northampton & Lamport Railway for the first time as their star visiting locomotive for their August Bank Holiday Gala from the 2tth to 29th of August 2022.

After months of testing and running in Pete Waterman’s ex GWR 45xx Class Small Prairie 2-6-2T No. 5553 has been fully painted in British Railways Black livery and is now set to enter service again at Peak Rail and should be hauling its first public trains over the Christmas season.

The overhaul of Pete Waterman’s ex GWR 45xx Class Small Prairie 2-6-2T No. 5553 is now completed as the locomotive was tested during March and is now back in service and ready to enter traffic at Peak Rail and the heritage railway circuit.

The boiler of Pete Waterman’s ex GWR 45xx Class Small Prairie 2-6-2T No. 5553 has been put back onto the mainframes of the locomotive after a successful steam test and it is hoped that N. 5553 will enter service this Christmas hauling Peak Rail’s Santa Specials.

Pete Waterman’s ex GWR Small Prairie 2-6-2T No. 5553 is now in the final stages of its overhaul at Peak Rail as the frames of the locomotive are back on all its wheels with the coal bunker refitted and the boiler will soon be undergoing its steam tests. No. 5553 will be turned out in BR Black livery for the first time in preservation when she returns to traffic soon.

Work is now underway on 5553 at Peak Rail as the GWR 4575 Class 2-6-2T has been moved undercover for its overhaul.

5553 visited the West Somerset Railway in late August 2002 for the Autumn Steam Gala, she has now left the line.
