The ex GWR Small Prairie 2-6-2T No. 5552, is visiting the Pontypool & Blaenavon Railway for their Annual Steam Gala from the 13th to 15th of September 2024.

With its overhaul now completed, the ex GWR Small Prairie 2-6-2T No. 5552 has now left Leaky Finders and has returned home to the Bodmin Railway (which is the new name for the Bodmin & Wenford Railway now) for testing and final painting before entering service.

The boiler of ex GWR Small Prairie 2-6-2T No. 5552 has undergone a steam test today at Leaky Finders and has passed successfully and will now be returned to the mainframes of the locomotive when the cladding is refitted.

The ex GWR Small Prairie 2-6-2T No. 5552 has been relocated to Leaky Finders at Hele near Exeter in Devon, where the locomotive is now being overhauled in their brand new heavy engineering workshop there.

The original smokebox number plate which had been in private hands since the 1960s has been returned to the loco by the family of the late owner.

Restoration is now complete and 5552 was running in service on 25th August 2011
