Sadly the visit of Ffestiniog Railway George England & Co. 1867 built 0-4-0ST+T No. 5 "Welsh Pony" to the Lynton and Barnstaple Railway for their Autumn Steam Gala has now had to be cancelled as the locomotive is now unable too sadly.

The Ffestiniog Railway George England & Co. 1867 built 0-4-0ST+T No. 5 "Welsh Pony" will be visiting Lynton and Barnstaple Railway in Devon for the very first time to star at their Autumn Steam Gala weekend on the 23rd and 24th of September 2023, in place of "Russell".

Ffestiniog Railway George England & Co. 1867 built 0-4-0ST+T No. 5 "Welsh Pony" was successfully steamed for the first time in 80 years today. The locomotive is now ready for running in trials before entering service at the Ffestiniog Railway soon.

According to Owen Chapman, a volunteer at the Festiniog Railway, "Welsh Pony" is slightly larger than "Palmerston" and is currently unserviceable and stored. The locomotive has not operated since 1938.
