No 47279 is an example of the standard 0-6-0 tank design for the London Midland and Scottish Railway in 1924. Although a design of Henry Fowler it was a development of a much earlier design of 1899 by Samuel Johnson for the Midland railway. The locos were used for local passenger and freight trains and for shunting duties. No 47279 was built at the Vulcan Foundary in Lancashire. The photo shows no. 47279 at Oxenhope on the KWVR in May 2002
