Just another of Ivatt's small moguls to the LMS design? If you are churlish, you might agree, but this one's got Scotland in its bones (frames?). It spent much of its working life allocated to Dundee Tay Bridge shed, but was outstationed at Arbroath, where it was used as the regular loco on the Carmyllie branch. This was formerly the Elliot Junction and Carmyllie Light Railway which was built initially to serve quarries at Carmyllie. 46464 worked the branch on freight (passenger services didn't last beyond 1929) and the occasional enthusiast's special, tackling the fierce gradients (up to 2.8%). It received the nickname 'The Carmyllie Pilot' because of its long associatiion with the branch and its current owners are 'The Carmyllie Pilot Company'.
