SAR 4112 was built in 1958 by North British, Glasgow, Subcontracted from Beyer Peacock. Built as a GMA/GMAM class. GMA was used on lighter branch lines. GMAM by removing some steel plates, were used on mainline and carried more water and coal. All locomotives were coupled to an auxiliary water tender. The class operated until the early 1980s.

4112 was shipped to the UK in 1986, still in operational condition. Arrived in Plymouth, then was road hauled to Summerlee in 3 parts. It is displayed outdoors and condition has been deteriorating over the years. There is scaffolding going up and some undercoat appearing.
