In the cramped conditions inside the 1833 goods shed, photography is difficult. The loco's chimney is removed to get it into the building! Restored to Robert Stephenson and Hawthorns deep maroon livery - 'Stivvies' works was active in Darlington for a long time and built a wide variety of locos for home and abroad, the last ones being diesel electrics of class 37.

This locomotive actually started as an 0-6-0 saddle tank but when it went to Carnforth it was converted to a side tank. At the present or at least 10 years ago it was not operational as it only had half a firebox as when the town council in Darlington bought it it was undergoing works at Carnforth.
