The successful return to steam of former Great Eastern Railway, 1876 built Class 209 or LNER Y5 0-4-0ST No. 229, has been good as the locomotive was one of the big crowd pleasers during its visit to Hopetown, Darlington for their Titans of Steam Gala. No. 229 has returned back to the Flour Mill works for final work to be completed which will see vaccum brakes fitted and may possible have airbraking as well?? But it will be painted in Great Eastern Blue livery during the winter and it is planned to visit Mangapps Railway Museum in 2026 as a thank you as the head of Mangapps John Jolly had help with its restoration by donating buffers for it.
