Built by Vulcan Ironworks in Wilkes-Barre, PA 4441 of 1943 and originally became USATC No. 1968, being transported to the UK during WW11 and stored (apparently at Newbury Racecourse) pending use in Europe. It was then purchased for a mere £2,500.00 in 1947 by the Southern Railway and given the number 65. Upon Nationalisation in 1948 it was then re-numbered 30065 and worked for that company until October 1962, thereupon it was transferred into Departmental service and became No. DS237 until final withdrawal just over a year later in November 1963.
