The ex Furness Railway 0-4-0 No. 20, (one of the worlds oldest working steam locomotives) will be taking part on display with many other locomotives at the Greatest Gathering at Litchurch Lane works in Derby as part of the Railway 200 celebrations from the 1st to 3rd of August 2025. To mark 200 years of opening of the Stockton and Darlington Railway and 200 years of the modern railway we all know and use today.

The ex Furness Railway 0-4-0 No. 20, (one of the worlds oldest working steam locomotives) is set to visit the West Somerset Railway for the very first time for their 150 event. A week long celebration which is being held from Tuesday 16th July to Sunday 21st July 2024, marking the 150 year anniversary of the opening of the West Somerset line from Watchet to Minehead.

Following repairs carried by engineers from the West Somerset Railway, ex Furness Railway 0-4-0 No. 20 one of the worlds oldest working steam locomotives will be able to take part in the Pontypool & Blaenavon Railway’s 40th anniversary Steam Gala on from the 8th to 10th of September 2023.

Former Furness Railway 0-4-0 No. 20 one of the worlds oldest working steam locomotives is to visit the Pontypool & Blaenavon Railway for the first time during late May and early June 2023, as part of the 40th anniversary celebrations of the Pontypool & Blaenavon Railway this year. Also No. 20 herself celebrates her 160th birthday this year.

Former Furness Railway 0-4-0 No. 20 one of the worlds oldest working steam locomotives will be making one of her first Gala visits since completion of her overhaul this year with a visit to the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre for their Spring Steam Gala weekend on the 1st and 2nd of May 2022.

Furness Railway No. 20 one of the worlds oldest working steam locomotives has returned to steam again following completion of its overhaul in September 2021 and is currently being tested before entering service again soon.

Having worked its final shuttle rides over the bank holiday weekends at the NRMs Locomotion Museum. Furness Railway No. 20 one of the worlds oldest working steam locomotives has been withdrawn from service and has returned the Furness Railway trust base at the Ribble Steam Railway at Preston in Lancashire to under go its 10 year overhaul.

Currently the oldest UK loco that is operational. This Furness 0-4-0 has an interesting past. It was built for the Furness as shown, but they later rebuilt it as a saddle tank loco. In that form it was sold for industrial use as a shunter at Barrow in Furness steelworks, where it operated until final withdrawal. For a time it was in a children's playground until rescued and restored to its original condition. This involved building a new boiler and tender, and was part funded from lottery funds.
